Morin Ivory Coast Milk Chocolate 48% Guémon
This milk chocolate is proof that high-quality cocoa beans can come from Ivory Coast. In this case from an all-female cooperative. The taste is nutty, with notes of caramel, warm milk and biscuit.
Description
Cocoa from Ivory Coast in Africa is world famous, because Ivory Coast is the largest global cocoa producer. Unfortunately, most of that cocoa is produced as a cheap commodity bulk product with farmers living in often dire poverty.
Morin, on the other hand, buys its excellent quality cocoa beans in Ivory Coast from a fully female cooperative in the mountainous and forested Guémon region. The 300 members of the cooperative enjoy additional education, microcredits for investments in their plantations, and other projects including food support for nine local schools. They grow cocoa beans of the Forestero variety. This beautiful milk chocolate is proof that good quality cocoa can be produced in Africa.
Taste notes: Nutty and caramelized, with notes of biscuit and warm milk
