The cocoa grown on the island of Papua New Guinea is the result of cross-breeding of several varieties of cocoa: Criollo from Venezuela, Amelonado from West Africa, a hybrid Forastero and a Trinitario-clone. These varieties were given to small farmers in Papua New Guinea by international aid agencies and NGO’s in 1990 as the country was rocked by rebellion.<\/p>\n
The cocoa beans used for this dark chocolate bar originate from plantations situated in the province of East New Britain and from small farmers who harvest cocoa in several places.<\/p>\n
