Beneath the heights of Machu Picchu<\/a> grows the Chuncho cocoa that has survived the passage of time in the Urubamba Valley<\/a>. The old and sturdy Chuncho trees, some of which are 200 years old, grow at heights almost unheard of for growing cocoa.
\nCocoa scientists believe that Chuncho is maybe the world’s richest aromatic cocoa. Locals are extremely proud of their Chuncho heritage, and many families carefully harvest the cocoa pods from their oldest trees to turn the beans into their own chocolate.<\/p>\n
