Description

This very rare Heirloom cocoa grows at Puentespina Farm, Malagos District (Barangay Baguio District, Davao City) in the Philippines. There are only 2000 trees, yielding about 150-200 kg of beans per year. Malagos is derived from malakas na agos, meaning « strong stream of water ». The farm lies exactly on the equator, which makes it an ideal location for growing cocoa.

Here the soil, the sun, the climate – the environment – come together to create a unique terroir that gives the cocoa beans their identity, a uniqueness that cannot be reproduced anywhere else in the world.
