Luisa Abram

Wild chocolate from the Amazon rainforest

The Abram family are based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There, they create a range of very special chocolates from wild cacao, harvested in the Amazon rainforest. They buy the cacao directly from riverside cooperatives and from families living in the forest. Every location, every terroir, has a distinct flavour profile reflected in the bar of chocolate. The cacao trees grow wild in the forest – not in plantations. They are tended and looked after by the people in the area. People in Amazonia have lived like this for thousands of years, harvesting for their own use while taking good care of the forest.
Every year, the cacao harvest can be different, with some varieties being extremely rare. Also, the flavour profiles vary over the years, and the Abram family make sure to bring out those specific flavours into their exceptional quality chocolate.
