Kuná

Bean-to-bar 100% Ecuadorian chocolate

Kuná was founded in 2012 by Maria Fernanda Andrade and Luis Manuel Leon. It is perhaps the best chocolate brand from Ecuador, combining social responsibility, cooperation with indigenous peoples, attention to biodiversity, organic farming and quality.

Maria and Luis combine enthusiasm, passion and quality awareness. Out of nowhere, in its first year of existence, Kuná won the main prize at El Salon del Cacao y Chocolate Ecuatoriano. Truly the best chocolate from Ecuador! In 2014 they also received the award for the best export product of Ecuador.

The history of Kuná chocolate is closely tied to the Asociación Wiñak, a cooperative founded by indigenous Kichwa peoples from Archidona in the Amazon of Ecuador. The Kichwa harvest particularly high-quality cocoa from the Amazonian jungle, partially inside the Unesco biosphere Sumaco. In addition, for the chocolate with higher cocoa percentages, Kuná uses beans from the Unión de Asociaciones Artesanales Eloy Alfaro de Esmeraldas.
