The certified organic beans used for this beautiful 100% bar find their origin in plantations located in the Virunga Valley, where the women play a large role in cocoa cultivation. This valley is also known as ‘the gorilla valley’ because it is one of the remaining strongholds of the mountain gorilla.
The soils of the Rift valley are rich in minerals and lend a characteristic earthiness to the cocoa beans grown in the area. This gives the chocolate a deep, intense, earthy flavour.
